The day before Christmas Eve, Ben and I went to my mom’s house where we met my sister and nieces to decorate cookies for Santa. Later that night we decorated our Gingerbread Man House. Every year we do this and every year I can’t remember why. The icing doesn’t really stick and you can’t even eat the darn thing. Someone sneaking a bite of the candy. The finished project. To a two year old, we created the freakin Taj Mahal. Go us.

Twas the Day After Christmas
What a Christmas! J and I both agreed that this was one of the best Christmas’ we’ve ever had and a lot of that had to do with celebrating the holiday through the eyes of a child. So let’s get on with the Christmas recap. On Christmas Eve morning Ben and I went over to my parent’s house to eat breakfast and to bake Santa’s cookies. Since Ben was only 10 months old last Christmas, this was the first year we did this and he absolutely loved it. Usually on Christmas Eve we go to J’s aunt’s house for a big dinner and to exchange presents with his extended family,…

Ho Ho, No.
Along with almost every other parent, J and I took Ben to see Santa. Ben was not thrilled and I have a feeling Santa wasn’t either. Love Santa’s face. We were surprised that Ben was more upset this year than last. Right up until we saw Santa he kept saying, “ho ho ho.” To his credit, a big man with a fluffy white beard in a red suit handing out candy to kids can be kinda creepy. 2009 To make up for the not so fun Santa adventure, we took Ben to see The Magic Tree. It’s a tree decorated with thousands of lights and was originally started by a…

Half a Tree
Whenever I walk into a home or see a tree like this I immediately think, wow these people must not have an almost 2 year old because if they did their tree would look like this: Notice only the top half has decorations. This is what happens after you’ve picked up countless pieces of shattered ornaments and are too tired to keep saying, don’t touch, look with your eyes. I didn’t even attempt to put out presents. I can just picture Ben sitting in a heap of torn wrapping paper, playing with brand new toys, two weeks before Christmas. A fully decorated tree is overrated anyways.
