Our Memorial Day weekend was jam packed but it was nice to spend time together with family. 2 years ago we took Ben to the airshow and went in the middle of the day. It was miserable and hot so this year we went right when they opened at 9:30am. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and the breeze was wonderful! Cousins After nap, we made our first trip of the year to the splash pad. Daddy also filled up this pool at our home. Although it was freezing, Ben insisted he get in. On Monday, we went to the parade in our downtown. Ben was so good and…

Easter 2012
Finally part 2 of our Easter. I know you all have been just dying waiting for it. J and I went to Easter service at church along with my parents, and my sister and her family. Before we went I made these little cuties for breakfast. We also let Ben go through his Easter Basket from us. The actual Easter bunny comes at his grandparent’s house. I got Ben this new Easter basket from Pottery Barn kids. Unfortunately I left it at my parents house so he got to use a Walmart sack at J’s family’s egg hunt. After church we had lunch at my parent’s house and made the…

Pre-Easter Festivities
I’m going to break our Easter into two parts to keep this post from getting ridiculously long with a million pictures of my kid picking up eggs. Let’s face it, if you’re not family it’s probably not that interesting. Heck, even if you are family you’ll probably still be bored. The night before Easter we boiled our eggs and got to decorating! J thought it would be a good idea to use the tinniest bowls we have for the dye. Note to self: next year get plastic cups. I also attempted to make “carrots” from white chocolate, orange food coloring, and strawberries. They turned out less than stellar. Dipping the…

St. Patrick’s Day Weekend
Our St. Patrick’s Day weekend was the perfect mix of getting things done and relaxation. This is one of the first weekends in a while that didn’t seem to fly by. On Friday Ben had a party at school. We switched pre-schools last Summer and it was the best decision we could have ever made. He loves it, the school always does fun activities, they have class parties for every “holiday” and almost all the parents come to them. His St. Patty’s outfit, complete with socks and all. I made these mini shamrock brownie bites to bring to the party. That night our town turned on one their big outside…

Valentine’s Day 2012
This Valentine’s day was one of the best ones yet. We didn’t go out to a big fancy dinner or buy each other expensive gifts, and instead opted to spend time as a family celebrating what this holiday is all about, love. And cupcakes. That was Ben’s response when I asked him why we celebrate Valentine’s day. I tried to make the day as special as I could by doing little things here and there. That morning before work and school I “baked” a heart shaped breakfast (i.e. formed pre-made cinnamon rolls into hearts) let Ben open some goodies from his grandparents, and J and I exchanged presents. That afternoon…
