Jack: 11 Month Update

Jack. You are one month away from turning a year old. This can’t be possible. This month’s pictures have to be the best yet. You’ll be hard pressed to find a great one in the group, but they are so representative of the current stage you are in. You just can’t be bothered with sitting still to take pictures.
The picture above is what happens when we say, “How big is Jack?” You raise your arms up in the air and give a big ole smile. You’ve also learned to point to your hair when asked and you love to brush your hair and other people’s.
Your biggest accomplish is that you started walking at 10 1/2 months. You were pretty unsteady at first, but now you go from sitting to standing without pulling up on anything and then just take off walking. It’s so surreal to watch you toddling around the house.
You’ve gained another top tooth this month for a grand total of 5. You eat mostly table food and still love fruit the most. This month you tried mango but weren’t really a fan. Your favorites are blackberries, raspberries, and mandarin oranges. You take 5, 7oz bottles per day and after your first birthday we’ll start to introduce cow’s milk.
I’m not sure about your weight, but I’d guess you’re close to 20 pounds which also means you’ll be getting a new car seat soon. You’re still in size 3 diapers and wear mostly 12 month clothes, but some 6-12 month and 12-18 month as well.
Sleeping at night is continuing to go well (knock on wood). You go to bed between 7:30-8:00pm and wake up once or twice in the middle of the night, but you’ve also been sleeping through the night some nights. You love to sleep in and during the week I have to wake you up at 7:30am or 8:00am. You take 2 naps a day, but the morning ones are getting shorter and I don’t think it will be long before you drop that one. I still rock you at night and I love our time together. Sometimes you don’t really want to be rocked and would rather just lay in your crib. Other times you fall asleep right away as I’m rocking you and I love to just hold and look at you. I know these moments are going to soon so I’m soaking them in.
Bath time is still your favorite. We’ve officially gotten rid of the duck tub and you sit in the big tub although you continue to stand throughout most of your bath. You think it’s so funny to drop things over the side of the tub, and unlike last month when I told you no and you cried, this month you laugh and laugh. I’m in trouble.
You’re still saying, dada, hi, hey, and although you’ve said momma before, you say it all the time now and it’s so precious. You also understand so much more and can follow simple directions as well as follow my point. You love to point things and are really into books. You’ll bring me a book and then crawl up into my lap for me to read to you.
You are a dancing fool and your brother and you love to listen to music and have dance parties. Speaking of your brother, it’s so neat to see your relationship change and grow. You love playing chase together and Ben likes to read books to you and tell you stories. Whenever he’s in his room you have to be in there with him. If he shuts the door to keep you out, you get the saddest look and start crying. I’m so glad you both love each other so much.
You go to a sitter during the day (a coworker of mine who quit to stay home with her baby) and you just love her. When we get to her house you start waving hi before we even walk through the door. It makes me happy that you are so happy to go there.
Let’s agree to slow down time this next month, ok? I promise I’m going to soak up every minute I can with you before you turn one and you promise me not to grow overnight anymore. I love you so much.
