We rang in the New Year at home with a champagne toast and then promptly went to bed. The boys were both passed out from too much pre-partying at 6:30pm so J and I were left to stare at each other for 5 hours. When that fun wore off I feel asleep at 8:00pm on the couch to be woken up by J a few minutes later. Then at 9:00pm, it was my turn to wake J up. We’re awesome. With about 2 minutes until the ball drop we woke Ben up so he could watch it with us.
Like past years, 2013 was filled with so many wonderful moments and of course some challenges. The best part was by far welcoming our newest little family member. Baby Jack has filled our lives with so much joy. I’ll do a separate post about my resolutions for 2014, but before I do, let’s reflect on how I did with my 2013 resolutions.
My 2013 resolutions:
Be more patient. Can this one ever be complete?
Finish decorating our house and hang family pictures. About that…
Spend more time with my girlfriends. I did pretty well although I definitely need more time away with some of my oldest friends.
Have a date night with J at least once a month. Having Jack put a temporary hold on this one, but there was lots of quality time spent together just talking on the couch.
Get the new baby’s room ready. Not all the way finished, but since he’s been here for 6 months, obviously it’s livable.
Save more, spend less. Overall, I think I did pretty well. I have big plans for this in 2014 though.
Take a trip with J before the baby comes. We didn’t get away the two of us, but we did take one last family trip. See below.
Take one last trip as a family of 3. DONE. We spent the weekend in KC visiting Legoland and Crown Center.
Reach my billable hours goal at work. Nope. But not for lack of effort.
Only work late one night a week. Having a breastfeeding baby really helped with this one.
Get caught up on scrapbooking. I’m caught up with all the pictures I had printed off. Now to print the other 1000 that I’m behind on.
Blog more often. I’ll consider this a success!
Read the bible more often. I’m disappointed about this one and have no excuse.
Update our household binder and get together a master organization list. DONE.
Bring my lunch to work more often than not. DONE. It helped to have other girls to do this with me.
Do more-Try new things. I’d say we did a lot in 2013 although not too many of them were brand new.
Cheers to 2014!
