This year was one of my favorite 4th of Julys. I took off work Thursday and Friday so we had an extra long weekend. We spent a lot of time with friends and family and it was nice not having anything we had to do. To kick off the holiday I made a Triple Berry Pie complete with hand cut stars which is why they look a little wonky.

4th of July | 2017
I’m not sure if it’s the festiveness, fireworks, or time spent with family, but the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. The days leading up to the 4th were spent swimming, having water balloon fights, and a bbq with some low-key fireworks at my parent’s house.

The fact that it rained almost our entire 4th of July weekend has me stalling to recap America’s birthday. We spent lots of time indoors but the weather seemed to cooperate a little more on the actual 4th although it was unseasonably chilly. Per tradition, we headed to J’s aunt’s house where the kids swam and shot fireworks while the adults made sure no one poked each other in the eye with a sparkler. Red, White, & Blue 2015
I just love the 4th of July. There’s something so awesome about everyone spending time with their families, wearing matching red, white, and blue, and celebrating their freedom. My office was closed on Friday, but I decided to take Thursday off as well and spend some one on one time with Ben. We went and saw Inside Out followed by a little lunch date.
