Life Recap

Heelllooo!! I’m so glad this week is a short 4 days and I can’t wait to celebrate the 4th of July this weekend. Can we talk about the fact that Wednesday is the first day of July? Where in the heck did June go? Seriously.

And since my blogging has been sporadic at best, a weekend recap just won’t do so here’s a little recap of what we’ve been up to lately.

Slowly but surely were getting more things done around the house including the much needed project of recovering our kitchen chairs for our everyday dining table. We looked at just getting a new table and chairs when we moved, but couldn’t find anything we liked. We ordered the new fabric from KOVI Fabrics and we wanted something durable, but also similar to what was on there before. J and I recovered these one night after the boys went to bed and I am so proud of us. The project wasn’t that hard, but the transformation is HUGE!

Last Sunday was not only Father’s Day, but this little cutie’s 2nd birthday! I still need to recap his party and write his 2 year old letter, but he had a great Olaf themed bash complete with new pjs and this little picnic table among lots of other toys for this spoiled boy.
Although Jack’s actual birthday was on Sunday, we had his party on Saturday so we could celebrate the dad’s in our life on Sunday. I printed out this adorable banner from here and hung it on the playroom door where the boys insisted daddy open his presents. We got daddy some new drill bits that he had been wanting, a gift card, and some adorable handmade things the boys made at school.
We had my parents over for lunch and ordered pizza from our favorite local pizza place. Both my dad and J love ice cream cake so this DQ cake was a no-brainer. Sadly I didn’t get any pics with my dad and J’s dad wasn’t feeling well that day so we called to wish him a happy father’s day over the phone.
We ended the day with J’s favorite BBQ meal for dinner and early bedtimes for all.
This last week we finally tried out our new neighborhood pool and it’s amazing!!! Our HOA fees are pretty darn ridiculous, but the pool, clubhouse, and workout room pretty make up for it. Jack’s buddy Mason came over and splashed around with us.
This boy cracks me up. Some of the things he says and does have me laughing so hard. He did a little wardrobe change while I was making dinner and this was his new outfit.
I’ve been wanting a blue and white maxi forever and found this one at Walmart of all places.
After not working out in forever I got back on the workout train last week and woke up at 5:45am every morning to run. We have great paths around our neighborhood so I explored those and then used the workout room once. Although I felt great after getting my workout in, man it’s tough to get up early!
I also packed my lunch throughout the week and since my lunchbox has gone missing, Ben so graciously loaned me one of his.
I’m loving this mix of mint green and stripes. I got the hair colored and brows waxed the day after I snapped this pic so no worries.
Our sweet friends Nick and Wendy dropped off this housewarming bucket filled with lots of goodies including a picnic blanket, candle, and squirt guns:)
Saturday morning we picked up these ginormous cinnamon rolls for breakfast and what they lacked in taste they made up for in size. ttss.
Later that afternoon I tried out a new recipe for mini apple pies. While I’m not a huge pie fan, I thought these were too darn cute not to make. J and I each only ate one, but I have a feeling these will be gone at work in no time. Recipe to come tomorrow!
Saturday night I finally watched the 50 Shades of Grey movie. I’ve read all the books, but it was quite awhile ago. Did anyone else find themselves getting teary-eyed in some parts? I just felt really based for Ana and I don’t remember feeling that same sadness when I read the books. Am I alone in this?
Our pool plans for Sunday got nixed when it started raining so we headed to Mexican for an early dinner instead.
My parents were in KC for the weekend and popped in to the Lego Store. They brought Ben back the new Jurassic park lego set. All 520 pieces of it.
I cut up this watermelon I got at the store and I always forget just how much watermelon there actually is. These tupperware were full and I still had a 1/4 of a watermelon left. Any great recipes you’ve made with this?
I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the last few days of June!

Linking up with Biana.
