I left Thursday for a work trip to Kansas and got home late Saturday night so my weekend was cut a little short. I was at a training on teaching essential life skills to people with moderate to severe disabilities and it was one of the best trainings I’ve ever been to.  Although I learned a ton, by Saturday I was definitely ready to be at home with my family. This weekend was spent celebrating our now 6 year old with an Avengers themed birthday party. Before the party could begin Ben needed a haircut and that’s how we spent our Friday night:) Wild & crazy. Jack hates haircuts so he nervously ate his sucker and worried that he’d be next in the chair. When the boys went to bed I got to stuffing the goodie bags and brining back the year 2000 with a Mike’s Hard Lemonade. When Sunday night rolled around I was so not ready for this weekend to end. I traveled early Friday morning to see a client and I got to witness this beautiful sunrise. Something about a sunrise instantly puts me in a better mood. We spent a good chunk of Saturday cleaning and organizing the house and it felt amazing. As a reward for our hard work we treated ourselves to Smoothie King which just opened in our town. Happy MLK Jr. Day! Although I’m recapping our weekend, it isn’t technically over since the boys and I have today off for the holiday.  My Christmas present from J finally arrived (again) after they sent us the wrong size the first time.  Friday night we went to our favorite pizza place. The boys love watching them make the pizza and playing with the dough.   Saturday morning the boys and I headed to a new donut place that just opened. This weekend was pretty perfect. A little bit of relaxing, lots of productivity, and time spent with family and friends. Friday night Ben and I had a mommy-son date to see Into the Woods followed by ice cream at our favorite, Orange Leaf. I know there’s been some controversy about the movie and if it’s appropriate for kids (it’s rated PG). Ben’s almost 6 and he loved it. There are a few scary parts (the wolf) and if you’ve seen the musical, you know how it ends.
