    Light It Up Blue 2015

Autism now affects 1 in 68 children. When I first started in this field over 10 years ago it was 1 in 150. An early diagnosis is key to helping people with autism receive the services they need. The following “red flags” may indicate a child is at risk for an autism spectrum disorder. If your child exhibits any of the following, please don’t delay in asking your pediatrician or family doctor for an evaluation: -No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter -No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles or other facial expressions by nine months -No babbling by 12 months -No back-and-forth gestures such…

    Fried Onion & Feta Salad

A local steak house in our town not only has amazing steak, but their house salad is equally as good. Although my version isn’t quite the same, it’s pretty close and the best part is it takes less than 5 minutes to put together. What You Need: -Cold chopped iceberg lettuce -1/4 cup finely chopped red and green pepper -1/3 cup finely chopped cucumber, skin removed -1 tbsp crumbled feta -1 Tbsp french fried onions (like you put on green bean casserole) -1 Tsp chopped walnuts -Ranch dressing What You Do: There’s no right or wrong way to any of this and the measurements don’t have to be exact. Weekend Recap

This weekend was a little longer than normal since it’s our Spring Break and I took some time off towards the end of the week so Ben and I could have some one on one time together. We saw Cinderella and both really loved it. Spoiler alert: when Cinderella says, “I forgive you,” to her stepmother I about lost it. source We also tried out an egg dying project I saw on Pinterest that used shaving cream and food coloring but it turned out to be a big fat fail. At least they looked cool before we washed them. Has anyone made these and had success? What did we do wrong?…

    5 on Friday

I’m back! Between computer/photo issues and a week long sinus infection, I’m feeling better and  ready to share what we’ve been up to these last couple of weeks. One.  We’ve been spending as much time outside as possible and trying to keep up with our crazy weather which switches from 70 degrees one day to 35 degrees the next. The forecast for this weekend has everything from rain to snow and then temps in the 60’s so needless to say I’m ready for Spring and some consistent weather. Two. J and I have made an effort to go on a few dates lately with just the two of us and…

    5 on Friday

Well we finally made it to the end of the week. Did anyone else feel like this week just creeped by? Let’s get this weekend started with my 5 from the week. One. I’ve been obsessed with succulents lately and the fact that they are virtually kill proof is a bonus. I’ve already asked J to help me make a little planter box this weekend so stay tuned. source unknown Two. Ben’s school had a fundraiser at McDonalds and it was the first time I’d eaten inside an actual McDonalds in forever. Despite my better judgement, the kids got to play in the play place followed by a bath the…
