    Happy Mother’s Day

I just wanted to pop in and wish all the moms out there a very happy Mother’s Day! It’s also important to remember those who are longing to become a mom as well as those whose mom are no longer with them. This day can be tough so take a moment to let other women know you’re thinking of them. We’re spending the day with both my mom and J’s mom and grandma.  source

    Weekend Recap

I can’t believe it’s May and that we close on our new house in 5 days! If you’re thinking about it, could you please say a little prayer that all goes smoothly and in the next 5 days all hell doesn’t break loose? Once everything’s official and we have the keys in our hands I’ll fill you in with the details on what’s been going on throughout this process. I’ve been rocking these Nike’s that I found at our local neighborhood garage sale for $3. The lady who sold them wore them twice. This is the first pair of shoes I’ve ever bought at a garage sale for myself. Although…

    Weekend Recap

Saturday morning I helped at my work’s annual Bowling For Autism event. Usually Ben comes and bowls but this year was our biggest one yet and all of the lanes were completely full. We had a great time watching families and friends bowl together and we raised a lot of money for autism services. Although he didn’t learn to bowl, Jack did learn how to finger paint himself with spaghetti sauce during dinner. Speaking of food, I watched the documentary Just Eat It on MSNBC. It’s about all the food that goes to waste in this country and it was pretty fascinating and definitely makes you think twice about throwing…

Crockpot Creamy Chicken & Rice Soup

I adapted this recipe to create the perfect soup for when the weather’s a little brisk or a storm is rolling in. What You Need: -1 lb chicken breasts -1 cup basmati rice -1 cup finely chopped carrots -1 cup finely chopped celery -6 cups chicken broth -1 tsp poultry seasoning -1/2 tsp onion powder -1/2 cup butter -3/4 cup flour -2 cups of 2% or whole milk What To Do: 1. Add the chicken, rice, carrots, celery, broth, poultry seasoning, and onion powder to the crockpot. Cook on low for ~8 hours. 2.…

    Weekend Recap

This weekend was perfectly unplanned. The only things on our schedule were an autism walk and baseball practice for Sunday but both got canceled due to the rain. Friday night we attempted to watch Frozen…again. Our Apple TV refused to cooperate but thank goodness two minute YouTube clips on repeat were enough to quiet Jack’s incessant “Ola, Ola.” It got into the upper 80’s and I officially broke out the shorts and blinded everyone who saw my legs. They’re not going to get tan by being stuck in jeans all day so better start somewhere. After too much YouTube and a less than delicious Dominos pizza for dinner, Ben and…
