Every Saturday is doughnut day in our house. I’m more of bagel person than a donut person but J and Ben love them. Usually we pick up our favorites, but a few weekends ago I decided to make my own.
Although I’ve found lots of great recipes, a lot of them require homemade dough and I don’t want to go that far into it. Let’s face it, yeast scares me.
Instead I turned to the next best thing. A semi homemade recipe that resulted in beautifully shaped doughnuts that didn’t quite taste like the traditional doughnut but were still enjoyable enough that J scarfed down 2.
What You Need:
– 1 can Grands Pillsbury biscuits (not get the flaky ones)
-Vegetable Oil
-Cinnamon
-Sugar
What To Do:
1. Start by separating each biscuit and cut a small whole in the middle of each one. I just used a pairing knife.
2. Once the oil is heated, place the doughnuts in the oil.
3. Cook for approximately 2 minutes or until golden brown and then flip, cooking on the other side.
4. Once doughnuts are done, place them on a paper towel to drain off the excess oil, then coat with the cinnamon and sugar mixture. I just mixed equal parts cinnamon and sugar.
Serve to two hungry boys or anyone else who happens to be hanging around.

I was hoping you might have a doughnut recipe…considering you're the professional and all.
