Goals & Resolutions

2018 Goals Update | February

Another month is over so let’s see how I did with this month’s goal update.

//Write down ten things that I am grateful for at the end of every single day//

Why is this one so hard to remember to do? Especially since it requires the least amount of time and effort.

//Complete at least 3 devotionals or bible studies//

I have a few recommendations, but would love some more! I really don’t want March to pass without beginning one.

//Workout at least 4 times per week for at least 30 minutes//

Despite missing a Monday here and there I didn’t let it derail and declare the whole week a bust. Last week was the worst since I came down with a sinus and ear infection, but I’m back at it.

//Lose 20 pounds//

I’ve lost 9.4 pounds since January and I’ve noticed that my clothes are definitely fitting better.

//Give up soda for at least 30 days//

I completed this one at the end of last month. I had 3 sodas in the month of February but that was it.

//Wake up an hour earlier on weekdays in order to have the best start to my day//

5:30 am seems to be a more realistic time than 5:00 and I’m still able to have time to myself before the kids get up. It also helps that the sun is coming up earlier and it’s not quite as cold.

//Drink half my body weight in ounces of water each day//

Still at it. Taking a big mug of water with me to the gym in the morning also makes sure I drink a lot before my day has really even started.

//Read 12 books throughout the year//

This month I read 2 books so I’m still way ahead of schedule. I also joined a book club with some friends from work which not only holds me accountable to read, but it also forces me to read some books I might not have otherwise.

//Declare our house a yelling free zone and create a plan on how we’ll do this//

The boys are still getting into some yelling matches with each other, but I’ve really worked on taking a moment before I feel like I’m going to lose it. I said this last month, but there’s something about having a clean and tidy house that helps so much. Less stuff = less stress= less yelling.

//Have bi-weekly date nights with my husband. Whether we go out or do something at home, a time carved out for just the two of us to strengthen our marriage//

This month we had a belated Valentine’s dinner as well as several at home movie nights after the kids went to bed. Having time with just the two of us has been so important.

//Continue to create a budget each month and update the budget at least weekly//

I budgeted and tracked our spending for the entire month of February and March’s budget is ready to go. We’ve got lots of fun activities and trips coming up so I’m focusing on saving for those as well.

//Create a house where stuff does not cause chaos. Each room will only have things we love and all of those things will have a place//

Like I mentioned above, I notice a huge shift in my mood when the house feels cluttered or un-clean. Since I was sick most the weekend, we took an hour on Sunday night to get laundry put away, bathrooms cleaned, vacuum, etc. It didn’t take long, everyone pitched in, and we were able to start our week off on the right foot.

February Feelings: Loved, Relaxed, Connected, Calm
