Yesterday I told you I baked a cake for J’s birthday last week. See how beautiful it is.
If you recall, this was the same cake just 10 minutes earlier.
Since Google wasn’t super helpful in telling me what to do with this little disaster, I thought I’d post my own tutorial in case you find yourself in the same predicament.
What You Need:
-3 to 5 toothpicks
-2 cans of frosting (or you can make your own)
-Candles or Bunting (helps distract people from the look of your cake 🙂
What To Do:
1. Take a deep breath and get over the fact that you just f’d up your cake.
2. Place the broken layer on the bottom of your cake plate.
3. Place a thin layer of frosting over what’s left of the bottom layer.
4. Place the intact layer on top of the broken one.
5. Break the toothpicks in half. Place the toothpicks in the top layer of cake to prop it up where the missing cake is thus creating the illusion of height and an actual layer.
6. Slather the whole thing with plenty of frosting, add a banner or candle or both, and keep your mouth closed.
From the outside or inside, no one can tell that a chunk of the cake is missing…until you cut into that part of the cake. I recommend you just save that area for yourself:) Or fess up and have a good laugh. As the saying goes, “Let them eat cake!”

You did an awesome job saving it. I think I would have probably cried and gave up.

Thank you! I didn't know whether to cry, laugh, or throw the whole thing away:)
