It’s hard to write a weekend recap today. Not only is it the anniversary of 9/11, but the devastation from the hurricanes is unimaginable. J’s aunt and uncle as well as several of his cousins live in Ft. Meyers, Florida. They chose not to evacuate and have prepared everything as much as possible. As of now they’ve just lost power and the streets are flooded, but the water hasn’t reached their house. As heartbreaking as it is, it’s also amazing to see the outpouring of love and support. Just like this day 16 years ago, complete strangers are reaching out to one another and it’s encouraging and inspiring to witness it.
Saturday morning my MIL and I went to a pop-up flea market. I found this gorgeous pitcher that looked just like one I was going to buy from Target except this one was only $4.
By Saturday evening Jack had developed a pretty bad cough and low grade fever. Both boys fell asleep early and J and I watched the original It. J had seen bits and pieces and I’d never seen it. It wasn’t at all what I expected and honestly, I didn’t love it. Especially since it was 3 hours long. Has anybody seen the remake?
Saturday night ended up being rough. Jack was up every half hour coughing or crying and he just couldn’t get comfortable. By morning we were both exhausted and running on hardly any sleep. In case you don’t know, Jack was diagnosed with asthma last year and although it rarely flares up, when he gets a cold/cough it can make his asthma flare up. After breathing pretty hard for a couple of hours, I gave him a breathing treatment and it seemed to help a lot.
While Jack napped and Ben played outside with the neighbors, I made these S’mores Bars. They are seriously addicting. I’ll post the recipe this week.
I also made Asian Chicken Meatballs that unfortunately looked much better than they tasted.
In between 9 loads of laundry I put out my fall wreath and got out the rest of my fall decorations. I lit my favorite Bath & Body Works scent, Leaves, and it officially felt (and smelled) like fall.
Hope you all had a great weekend and are somewhere safe and dry. Linking up with Biana for Weekending.
