Every year the elementary school I went to when I was little has their fall festival fundraiser. They have dinner, games, face painting, you name it. Last year Ben was still a little too young to do a lot of the games himself, but this year he was all about it. (2011) Dinner before all the fun. It had rained all day and it was pretty cold so the school also had activities inside. Stacking apples. Playing and winning the cake walk! Ben’s favorite part of the night was getting his hair spray painted! And of course we couldn’t leave without once last jump in the bounce house.

Pumpkin Carving Fools
I can’t believe this is the last weekend before Halloween. This also means next weekend is already November. In preparation for fall and Halloween there has been a lot of pumpkin carving going on. First up was carving at my parent’s house where the kids weren’t too excited about having to touch the guts of the pumpkin. I wish I would have gotten a picture of my niece Hannah’s pumpkin. She did an awesome job carving “Wicked” in her pumpkin. Since J couldn’t make it to my parent’s house, the next weekend we carved another set of pumpkins at our house. And for the first year ever, I was quite…

S’Mores Indoors
To celebrate the final days of fall we decided to roast some S’Mores. And because our fireplace is gas and enclosed with glass we did it the classy way. Over a non-scented tea light:) Ben needed a little help holding his stick. Lets just say it takes a lot of patience for a tea light to melt a marshmallow. After all our hard work to get the marshmallow just right to make the perfect smore, Ben didn’t even like it. Go figure.

Fall at the St. Louis Zoo
Since I had to be at the 1/2 marathon at the crack of dawn, J and I along with my family went to St. Louis the day before and stayed the night. The weather was in the 70’s and it was the perfect day for walking around at the zoo. Apparently everyone else had the same idea and although it was packed, we had a great time and Ben got to do his favorite thing, ride the train. The baby elephants were so darn cute. And because I’m all about the nostalgia, here is our family pic in the same spot in 2009. Ben was 7 1/2 months old. Riding…

A Weekend of Festivals
As the title suggests, we spent the majority of our weekend partaking in my favorite fall activity, festivals! I love fall almost as much as I love Christmas. Almost. Candy corn, colored leaves, pumpkins and cooler weather. What’s not to love? The festivals began Friday night at the Cougar Fun Fest which is held at a local elementary school which just happens to be the elementary school I attended. They have games, food, and the Great Pumpkin Drop and besides being lots of fun, it’s also a fundraiser for the school’s PTA. The Great Pumpkin Toss Saturday was spent hanging out around the house and then Sunday we headed to Hartsburg, MO…
