    Embrace the Busyness

Jennifer over at Life in the Green House wrote a great blog post yesterday about being busy during this time of year and it really resonated with me.  You would be hard pressed to find a lot of people who aren’t busy during this time of the year, including us. We have something on the calendar every weekend from now until Christmas. Dinners, cookie making, visits with friends, and seeing Santa. All things that make this season so special. Like Jennifer, I’m choosing to embrace the business during this season of our life. Ben will only want to sit on Santa’s lap for so long and baking cookies with his mom and cousins…

    Sparkles the Elf

Our Elf on the Shelf was a little late to the game this year. Thank goodness Santa knew just how impatient a certain 4 year old was getting and the Elf magically appeared last night while Ben was taking a bath.  Sparkles made his first visit to our house last year so this year Ben knew just what to expect from him. Last year Sparkle brought some Christmas pjs but the entire mall North Pole was out. So what’s an Elf to do? Bring a new Christmas tree topper of course!  He also left a little note with a not so subtle reminder to not touch which is hard when…

    Thanksgiving Weekend 2013

While preparing Ben for going back to preschool he told me, “There is no way it’s been four stay home days.” I feel ya dude. Our Thanksgiving was filled with food, family, more food, more family, and a little online shopping to knock out some Christmas presents. Thursday lunch we stuffed ourselves at J’s grandma’s house and then again that night at his aunt’s house for dinner. It was so fun celebrating Jack’s 1st Thanksgiving with all our family and I love the picture of him and his great grandma who we call Gigi. We were getting ready to leave and I had already changed him into his Christmas jammies.…

    5 on Friday

This Friday is going to be a little bit of a different post. Instead of the usual 5 on Friday, I’m posting 5 pictures that will help you get to know me more.  One. I love love love to travel. New York is one of my favorite cities and I’ve been there a handful of times, the last trip being when J and I went in 2010. Other favorite places I’ve traveled include San Francisco and Italy. Two. This kid has a BIG personality. Just like his momma 🙂 Three. It’s strange but also amazing to experience all of life’s stages with your best friend. It doesn’t seem like we…

    Carrots. Yum.

I tried to think of a funny, witty, or at least not lame title of this post for the last 5 minutes. Obviously I failed. But…look who’s eating carrots and loving them! Are you wondering why Jack’s eyes and eyebrows are so red? He was crying because I wasn’t shoveling the carrots in his mouth fast enough. Do you think he’s thinking, “Quit taking pictures and feed me my food before I freak out.” We were hoping to get at least one picture with him looking disgusted or unsure of what he was eating but alas he loved every bite.  For comparisons sake, here’s Ben eating carrots for the first…
